Acupuncture:
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture has been used in Asia for over 2,000 years as a comprehensive medical system. Acupuncture works by manipulating the body's energy system, removing blockages, balancing energy and filling deficiencies. This is done by inserting very small, sterilized, single-use needles. There is generally no pain other than a pinprick feeling on insertion; manipulation of the needle can inspire sensations of heaviness, coldness or heat.

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture has been used in post -operative recovery, nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, and post- operation dental pain. The NCCAOM has funded studies that have shown its effectiveness in pain relief, osteoarthritis, and as an effective complement to Western medicine. Further proof of acupuncture's efficacy has been demonstrated with the response of animals and children
A practitioner of Chinese medicine uses different methods of observation. Through the quality and feel of the pulse and the look of the tongue, as well as the patient's body type, a practitioner can discover the deficiencies and stagnations
in the body.
An acupuncture treatment starts off with a discussion of the patient's primary complaints and general health. After the pulse and tongue observation, the patient lies on the table and the needles are inserted. The needles are left in for about 15 - 30 minutes. The total treatment takes about an hour. A new patient treatment usually has a longer intake and takes about an hour and a half.
