Frequently Asked Questions:

Is it going to hurt?

There is usually a small mosquito bite feeling on needle insertion, after insertion the feeling may become intense but it is not the stabbing feeling associated with a needle, it can range from heavy to achy or sore, from warm to cold, and a few spots in between.

Will I bleed?

Not usually, in about 1-2% of points inserted a drop or two of blood comes out on removal, but though rare, this isn't unexpected.

Are there any Medical conditions or interactions that would prevent me from getting treated?

No, nearly all medical treatments can be assisted with acupuncture. Each treatment is tailored specifically to a patient taking into account their age and other factors to create a treatment that is unique to them. In many conditions, starting acupuncture treatments early can stop the progression of symptoms or heal them entirely, in other cases such as cancer or high blood pressure or stroke, acupuncture is best used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan which includes Western medicine.

Are there any side effects?

Sometimes people feel "out of it" but usually this dissipates with a little walking or a few moments sitting quietly.

Who can have acupuncture? Is it safe for children and seniors?

Acupuncture is acceptable and safe for all ages.

How many sessions before I see an effect?

You should start to see some effects starting after the first few treatments; otherwise the time it takes for symptoms disappear is based on how long you've had them and their severity.
